The Species section is set into basically three sections, Coarse, Trout, Salmon and Sea Trout. The size varies on the particular species, unlike in America where you can get monstrous 20 pound trout, compared to the average 20-pound Scottish salmon.

COARSE

The main coarse fish that can be found locally are Perch, Pike, Breem (mostly in canals though), Roach, Chub and Dace. Most of these are sparse and secluded to a couple of lochs but pike and perch are abundant in most waters.

TROUT

Most waters will have varied species of trout living in their waters, and since trout is a non-migratory fish their abundant all year round all though different seasons apply for different waters and species.

SALMON and SEA TROUT

Sea trout.

Salmon is the probably the fisherman’s dream catch, to reel in that fighting beast and then land it is what the fisherman looks up to, Salmon is very expensive to fish for so prepare to open up that wallet full of doubloons (joke for the skin-flints), and prepare to pay big money as some waters can go past fifty pounds a day for salmon. Sea trout is also expensive, best fished for at dawn and night time during the summer this still doesn’t stop most sea trout fisherman, as you’re walking over the bridge you hear a splash and a light moving in the water and you run down expecting to hear cries for help but only heel the clicking of a fishing reel as a man stands in front of you laughing while you have a heart attack of the shock.

WARNING: Due to flash floods and dangers of fishing at night, i strictly advise fishing with a partner, one takes a turn fishing a pool and then swaps over so that there is one person always on watch for the other person.
